A special Memorial Day interview with World War II veteran and Purple Heart recipient Robert Tarpinian of Acra, who served on aboard the USS LST-55. Tarpinian shared his stories of life aboard the Navy ship and his participation in the Allied invasion of Normandy, in June 1944. He narrowly survived Exercise Tiger, one of a series of large-scale rehearsals for the D-Day invasion that claimed the lives of 740 men. Tarpinian was interviewed at his home Wed., May 20.
