The Albany Report: A behind the scenes look at what's happening in the State Capitol with former State Senator Cecilia Tkaczyk and guests.
The Albany Report aired on WGXC from March 2015 to February 2016.
Listeners will have the unique opportunity to hear how Albany really works from the perspective of an advocate who spent more than 20 years working to make state government more accountable and responsive to the people of New York. The hour-long show is broken down into two 1/2-hour segments. The first segment begins with a summary of the week's events and then delves into further discussion of a particular topic with a guest. The second 1/2 hour is devoted to taking calls from listeners.
Former New York State Senator, farmer and businesswoman. As the executive director of a statewide coalition of affordable housing providers and president of her local school board, Cecilia Tkaczyk regularly visited, and often fought with, members of the state Legislature. As a high-ranking Senate staff member, Tkaczyk counseled legislative leaders on best practices and developing good public policy. And after her shocking underdog victory for the State Senate in 2012, she was soon recognized as a legislative leader on issues ranging from public education, the environment and the State's small farms and agricultural industry.
