The Golden Hour is here to unearth the rare and unusual and celebrate music’s great unsung heroes from around the globe. This broadcast will feature exclusive remixes and original productions by Golden Child in addition to a lively mix of songs that will keep your head bopping and your feet moving!
Sean “Golden Child” Mangan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1988. Originally a classically and Irish trained musician, Sean got into music production, engineering, and DJing in 2001 when he was 12-years-old. Making his first beats on a Yamaha DJX keyboard and the original version of Garageband, Sean promoted his music online (via Craigslist and Myspace) until he caught the ear of underground hip-hop legend, MF Grimm (aka GM Grimm / Percy Carey), who was quick to give the young protégé the name “Golden Child.” In 2005, Golden Child worked with Freestyle Friday Champion and Chinese-American hip-hop sensation, Jin, on his sophomore LP, “The Emcee’s Proper?ganda.” He graduated from the Clive Davis School of Recorded Music at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2010 and opened a recording studio in Brooklyn with his production company, Grand Staff, the same year. Since then, Golden Child has continued to develop his own sound while developing up-and-coming artists, many of whom are now enjoying commercial success in the underground hip-hop scene. A resident of Catskill since 2023, Golden Child is excited to bring his musical stylings to the Hudson Valley and continue to connect with likeminded artists.
