Part of the Artists Documentary series curated by Bonnie Marranca. The 1966 event, 9 Evenings: Theatre & Engineering, brought together 10 artists and 30 engineers from Bell Labs for a series of performances. This was the first collaboration between New York artists and scientists. Two of the performances, John Cage's Variations VII and Robert Rauschenberg's Open Score, will be screened. Each of these films feature archival footage, and interviews with the artists, engineers and performers discussing their experiments with then new technologies. Producer Julie Martin will be present at the event.
