Runs approximately 35 min. What does it mean to act Shakespeare? In this practical workshop students have been learning some of the basics of voice and movement required to perform Shakespeare as well as more advanced techniques on how to bring Shakespeare’s often thorny language to the stage. The focus of this year’s lab is “The Tempest” and culminates in a short performance inspired by this work. The lab, led by Adam Hall, has also engaged its participants in theatre games, improvisation, and group conversations about art and performance. The participants of this workshop are: Conor Anderson, Jyne Anderson, Kat Anderson, Melinda Braathen, and Olivia Williams. Kevin Cortesi will be performing on the djembe, and Bryce Courbois will be providing tech support. All of TSL’s youth programs this summer have been made possible, in part, with funds provided by the the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation, Mary Norris Preyer Fund, the PARC Foundation, Rheinstrom Hill Community Foundation, Steware’s Shops, T. Backer Fund, United Way of Columbia & Greene Counties, and with support from TSL Members from around the region. Bard College provided the workshop internship.
