In conjunction with the launch of WGXC's new sound and new program schedule in 2019, we are pleased to announce an open call for a Station Soundmark[1]. This brief station sonic identification--an audio earworm--will air with intense frequency on Wave Farm's WGXC 90.7-FM and online radio stream.

  • Submissions should be no longer in duration than 45 seconds, and embody the idea of "Radio for Open Ears" in any interpretation.
  • Email your submission(s) to info@wavefarm.org, no later than Thursday, March 6, 2019.
  • The selected submission will be announced on March 9, 2019 at the WGXC's Eighth Anniversary Party, featured in a dedicated email announcement, and credited prominently on the Wave Farm WGXC website.
  • [1] Soundmark: This is derived from the term landmark. A soundmark is a sound which is unique to an area. In his 1977 book, "The Soundscape: Our Sonic Environment and the Tuning of the World," R. Murray Schafer wrote, "Once a Soundmark has been identified, it deserves to be protected, for soundmarks make the acoustic life of a community unique." p. 10. ISBN 978-089281455-8.
