Our rural agrarian roots run deep within the land, and within the culture of the region. Both the beauty and utility of this magnificent land have been utilized, sometimes overly so, and sometimes to varying stages of degradation - often-times taking short-term advantage, and leaving long-term negative effect. This program will be looking back into the past agricultural legacy that is unique to this area, to determine where we may have gone off on the wrong trial, to be better able to avoid such missteps - but also to look for successful practices and enterprises that worked long ago, and hold promise for us now, and on into the future. The program will consist of several different viewpoints of the history of agriculture here, being melded together to give a wide-range, in-depth perspective to the land, its people, and our agricultural heritage. The registration deadline for this program is March 8, 2011. For more information or to register for this program please call the Agroforestry Resource Center at (518)622-9820.
