The most successful gardens always start with a good plan. There are a multitude of things to consider before putting showel or hoe to soil. This workshop will cover all the bases whether you are growing a small plot or a big family garden. Topics we will explore include: soil types and amendments, location issues, four season gardens, plant families/crop rotations, extending the season, continuous harvests, vertical gardening, crop selection, seeds, transplants, and more. You are encouraged to bring a dry, composite soil sample from your garden area for testing and evaluation, valued at over $5.00. Dig from several locations 3-5 inches deep, mix and put 1/2 cup in a plastic bag. Registration deadline for this program is March 3, 2011. For more information or to register call the Agrofoestry Resource Center at (518)622-9820.
