All are invited to roll down the Harlem Valley Rail Trail with CLC President Troy Weldy! During this guided biking program, participants will enjoy a moderate late-fall group ride through Columbia County.

What to expect: We will bike fifteen miles along the Harlem Valley Rail Trail over paved, flat terrain with stops to discuss wildlife and plants seen along the trail.

What to bring: Your own bike, safety equipment (helmet), additional layers, and water. Participants are encouraged to wear weather-appropriate clothing and footwear.

We’ve hidden wintry items all over the Hudson Area Library! If you find them all, you will receive a small treat and a chance to win the Grand Prize (a colorful basket stuffed full of goodies and books). You can pick up a checklist and begin looking for clues! All ages are welcome to play.

The scavenger hunt run from December 2 – January 27, during library open hours. The Grand Prize winner will be announced on January 28.

The public is invited to gather at the Hudson Area Library and observe cultural food demonstrations led by locals sharing recipes brought to Hudson from around the world, and enjoy a taste! On December 2, 2024 Sonia Cintron will show us how to cook Puerto Rican arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas).

An opportunity to learn various Qigong sets and then work on a traditional Tai Chi Form – a set series of movements and postures – with instructor Curt Anthon, a member of the Yang Family Tai Chi Association. All are welcome!

The Hudson Area Library (HAL) Book Group will combine its November and December meetings into one session this time. Our book is "The Secret Life of Sunflowers" by Marta Molnar, a gripping, inspiring novel based on the true story of Johanna Bonger, Vincent van Gogh’s sister-in-law.

Green Kill exhibition (TRUITT & TRUITT), T&T art/ works (Sam Truitt & Kimber Truitt) will perform live part 1 of Dicteedict: To See Past The End of Our Nose, an intermedia work based on Dicte: A Triptych. T&T will perform the second part of this work on Friday, December 27, 8 PM.

Dr. Paul Spector is certified as a trainer with the American Academy of Sports Medicine. In this class at the Hudson Area Library, he shares exercises that improve postural stability, core strength, spatial body awareness, sensory integration, agility, and coordination. The class will serve as an important space for community through its focus on healthy connection, breathing, and its encouraging atmosphere.

The Sylvia Center presents a six-week virtual cooking program geared towards families with children ages 18 and younger. During each hour-long class, a Chef Educator guides participants through a seasonal vegetarian recipe. Each family can opt in to pick up weekly free fresh food meal kits that feed 4-6 and include all ingredients needed, save for salt and pepper. Curriculum emphasizes the role of nutrition in good health and focuses on building participants’ skills, confidence, and food knowledge inside and outside of the kitchen.
