The Alan Skerrett Scholarship Fund Committee would like to announce a showing of Alan’s photography collection. The exhibit, to honor the legacy of Alan Skerrett which includes many of his original works, will be located in the gallery space directly in front of the library at Columbia-Greene Community College, and will hang from Friday September 27, 4 pm through October 14 (Indigenous Peoples’ Day), available to the public during the hours the college is open.

Light refreshments served. There will be an opportunity to share brief remarks on thoughts and memories of Alan at around 5 pm.

The event is to further increase the public’s attention to the scholarship, which is meant for a student majoring in human services or psychology, and who has demonstrated a commitment to social justice in our community. The exhibit, to honor the legacy of Alan Skerrett which includes many of his original works, will be located in the gallery space directly in front of the library at Columbia-Greene Community College, and will hang from Friday September 27, 4 pm through October 14 (Indigenous Peoples’ Day), available to the public during the hours the college is open.

EMPAC invites WGXC audiences to join filmmaker Sharlene Bamboat and curator Katherine C.M. Adams for a free work-in-progress presentation.

The evening includes a viewing of the artist's feature-length film, BOTH, INSTRUMENT & SOUND, a look into a new installation-in-progress, and moderated discussion.

Originally made as a 40 minute, 1-channel film, the work offers an intimate and sensorially rich perspective on shifting practices of solidarity and alliance-building.

Refracted through the life of 80-year-old Tony, an activist in Toronto’s queer community, the work opens up to both political and intimate modes of relation.

The Alan Skerrett Scholarship Fund Committee would like to announce a showing of Alan’s photography collection. The exhibit, to honor the legacy of Alan Skerrett which includes many of his original works, will be located in the gallery space directly in front of the library at Columbia-Greene Community College, and will hang from Friday September 27, 4 pm through October 14 (Indigenous Peoples’ Day), available to the public during the hours the college is open.

This summer, CLC is hosting a series of programs where participants can learn more about and try land management techniques in a supportive environment so that you can feel comfortable implementing them at home!

This series of workshops is ideal for those who are already actively managing their land, those who would like get to started, and those interested in learning more about how CLC manages the properties we care for.

This workshop at Overmountain will focus on ecologically compatible cattle grazing in a wetland ecosystem.

EMPAC invites WGXC audiences to join filmmaker Sharlene Bamboat and curator Katherine C.M. Adams for a free work-in-progress presentation.

The evening includes a viewing of the artist's feature-length film, BOTH, INSTRUMENT & SOUND, a look into a new installation-in-progress, and moderated discussion.

Originally made as a 40 minute, 1-channel film, the work offers an intimate and sensorially rich perspective on shifting practices of solidarity and alliance-building.

Refracted through the life of 80-year-old Tony, an activist in Toronto’s queer community, the work opens up to both political and intimate modes of relation.

2024 marks the 17th annual ArtEast Open Studio Tour –– a self-guided driving tour to the studios of local artists. The public is enthusiastically invited and welcomed on two weekends: October 19-20 and October 26-27, 11:00am-5:00pm each day. Not only will you get a chance to interact with artists in their creative settings, but you will be traveling interesting rural roads in the beautiful countryside of the Hudson Valley during peak foliage season. The dream of every artist is to have visitors come to their studio and talk about their work. You will have the opportunity to ask them about their latest projects and you’ll find yourself absorbed into their world. With 25 artists on the tour, you will find artists working in a diverse range of mediums. If you think you’ve seen it all before, take a look at the website and get yourself a brochure and you’ll find new work and new faces added to the tour this year. Mediums and styles to be found are 3d/sculptors, fiber artists, photographers, folk artists and painters so there will always be something to see that will catch your interest.

"Outside the Box" features the innovative expressions of 10 Iroquois/Haudenosaunee artists who are pioneering new ground and new spaces. Work by installation artist Hannah Claus, photojournalist Ian Maracle, video game creator Waylon Wilson, neo-burlesque dancer Lauren Jiles, metalsmith Margaret Jacobs, animator Paulette Moore, luthier Glenn Hill, Jr., contemporary dancer Santee Smith, and the Iroquois Marching Band.
