Weekly live improvised ambient music featuring David and Kenji Garland, Dan Kirkhus, Jimmy Garver, Rodney Greenblat and guest performers. Enjoy coffee and breakfast while floating on a cushion of ambient sound by adventurous musicians.

Every Monday at 7:30 p.m. No previous singing experience is required. For most of us, our voice is our most important medium of expression. With this voice we can sing, we can praise, we can express joy or pain, and we can teach. But often, our relationship with our voice becomes disconnected. We underestimate the effect our voice has on our bodies and our lives. This workshop is a doorway into reconnecting with your voice and expressing yourself more fully. Through a series of simple tones, or notes sung for long periods, we gently begin to observe the relationships between the voice, the body, the breath, and the self. This workshop is not affiliated with any spiritual practice. All people are welcome, and no singing experience is required. There is a short introduction and instruction, followed by 30 minutes of a guided toning series, and open discussion afterward (optional). Open to the public, but donations are graciously accepted. Elise McMahon of LikeMindedObjects and Shaker Museum will facilitate The Fix-It Picnic this month at the Hudson Area Library, where the can-do community fix-it spirit is contagious. The Huyk Preserve and Biological Research Station is putting on a Bittersweet Cutting event to give participants an opportunity to give back to the planet on Earth Day. Stewardship Coordinator Garrett Chisholm will lead the group to cut back the invasive Asiatic bittersweet vine that threatens the health of our forests. Wearing long pants and sleeves and sturdy shoes is recommended. Work gloves and a limited number of loppers are available to borrow, or participants can bring their own.

This is open to the public, and registration is not required but is helpful in planning this event.

The FASNY Museum of Firefighting is hosting "Mini Horse Mania!" Attendees can visit the “adoption barn” to learn all about how firefighters cared for fire horses. Then, they can pick their own stuffed horse to adopt and call their own, Finally, all kids will have the opportunity to meet our guests: mini horses from Little Brook Farm.

The event is open to all.

Monarda Community Care is offering an open drop-in care clinic at the Hudson Area Library, which will include ear acupuncture, ear seeds, acupressure, a wide variety of free herbal medicines, Narcan, Fentanyl test strips, zines, and more. Those interested in receiving acupuncture need to arrive by 1:30. No registration required. First come, first served.

Chad Weckler has installed 107 photographs of individuals who have made a creative impact on the City of Hudson, N.Y., all of which were photographed between August 2022-July 2023 with a film 4x5 film camera. Weckler’s project is a timely documentation of a thriving arts community in Upstate New York. Hudson is a small city with a population of less than 6,000 people and is home to a myriad of creative individuals who work within the performing, musical, literary, and visual arts. Many of them are pioneers, drawn to Hudson before its rise to prominence, and are, in large part, the backbone and vibrancy of the community.

This project has been generously supported by a grant from the Martha Boschen Porter Fund, the New York State Council on the Arts, The Spark of Hudson in partnership with the Eutopia Foundation, a grant from The Bank of Greene County Charitable Foundation, and is supported by a grant from the Galvan Foundation, and his fiscal sponsor is the New York Foundation for the Arts.

The project will be exhibited in Hudson at the Private Public Gallery from April 20th to May 4th, 2024.
