Wave Farm is delighted to announce that Tyler Maxin will serve as a 2022/2023 Wave Farm Radio Art Fellow. During his engagement, Maxin will make additions to the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource, and to the syndicated weekly radio show "The Radio Art Hour." Maxin will also conduct workshops and listening sessions with WGXC programmers and interested members of the public, and create original radio artworks for broadcast.

Tyler Maxin is a researcher and curator based in Brooklyn, New York. He is the Communications and Special Projects Associate at Electronic Arts Intermix (EAI), a leading resource for video and media art. In 2022, he co-curated "Jerry Hunt: Transmissions from the Pleroma" at Blank Forms, New York, a multi-pronged initiative that included an exhibition of the late composer's sculptural objects and video work, a series of record reissues, the publication of Stephen Housewright's biographical memoir Partners, and a 368-page journal surveying Hunt's life and career. Maxin's writing has appeared in publications including Artforum, BOMB, Hotel, and Screen Slate.

Recent paintings by Kate Knapp, founder and artistic director of the gallery since 2010. Color, light and love are three of the main ingredients in these new paintings by Kate Knapp. Each canvas tells a story about the visual world Knapp experiences and the feelings she has about the subject matter. They are representational studies of the landscapes, still lives and portraits all created in the impressionistic style. This is done when Knapp loads her brush with oil paint in lush colors to express the effect of light on the subject she sees before her. The paintings bring us to a new awareness of the beauty in the world around us. Wild rushing river rapids, brilliant red boiled lobster with wine and lemon surrounded by multi patterned fabrics, flower bouquets bursting with harmonious color notes that touch the heart are a few of the paintings included in this show. Also on view are recent self portraits of this 71 year old artist who has spent her life painting. In her work she still asks, “Who am I and how do I feel it?” The answers are in the paintings and the viewer will experience the immense richness of the beauty that abounds. The works of Ian Clyde, Jane Craker, Lionel Delevingne, Janene Gentile, Trevor Hunter, Stephan Marc Klein, John Lipkowitz, Nina Lipkowitz, Hannah Mandel, Paul Nueckel, Anna Oliver, Marilyn Orner, Peggy Reeves, Ken Sahr, Doris Simon and H. David Stein will also be on view.

Wave Farm is delighted to announce that Iru Ekpunobi will serve as a 2023 Wave Farm Radio Art Fellow. During their engagement, Ekpunobi will make additions to the Wave Farm Broadcast Radio Art Archive, an online resource, and to the syndicated weekly radio show "The Radio Art Hour." Ekpunobi will also conduct workshops and listening sessions with WGXC programmers and interested members of the public, and create an original radio artwork for broadcast.

Iru Ekpunobi is a deep listener, DJ, and audiofuturist. A recent graduate of New York University, Ekpunobi began their journey in FM radio as an DJ and show host at WNYU 89.1-FM, where they synthesized Black musicology, revolutionary history, and futurist transmission on a weekly, 90-minute broadcast. Culminating in their undergraduate thesis, Ekpunobi launched Third Space Radio, a digital media project and community radio station exploring sonic transmission as a ‘third place’ where community, education, and love can persist.

Currently, Ekpunobi is re-establishing their identity independent of academic institutions, researching percussion as communication throughout the Black sonic diaspora and working as a podcast producer. Connection welcomed at iruekpunobi.com, and @iruirl on instagram.
