Business education for farm women. A series of classes for women who are farm owners or managers or who anticipate moving into a decision-making position on a farm. This workshop focuses on building financial skills. Participants will learn financial management tools, including financial statements, crop insurance, business planning tools, and the effective use of loans and credit. The Hudson Area Library and the City of Hudson Senior Center are offering a 12-week Creative Writing class, taught by author, artist, educator, and social activist Maureen McNeil. Held weekly on Thursdays from September 20 through December 13, the series runs from 2:30 to 4pm. Students will explore memories, sensory observation, dreams, autobiography, fiction, and poetry, and will share a selection of their work. All levels of writers are welcome. A zine of student work will be available at the library and on the library’s website, and a final celebration of student writing will be held in the library on December 13.

Weekly classes will resume on Tuesdays with two levels: Advanced Beginner (5:30-6:30pm) for students of Spanish who have taken at least an introductory course in the language, and Intermediate (6:45-7:45pm) for those conversational in Spanish and who wish to further develop their skills. There will be a celebration of the students’ work at the conclusion of the series for both levels on December 4 from 5:30-7pm. Adults and high school students are welcome.
