Live from Woodstockhausen Music Festival: Riverkeeper Fish Migration Celebration
On Saturday, June 14, intermittently between 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., as part of Riverkeeper’s first annual Fish Migration Celebration and Flotilla, sound artists Rhiannon Catalyst and Misha Mayeur broadcast live from the deck of the Schooner Apollonia, a 64-ft sail freight vessel retrofitted as a migrating sturgeon—an ephemeral river masquerade created by artist Greg Corbino.
The broadcast drifts between documentary and sonic immersive theatre, capturing the acoustic ecology of the Hudson River in motion. Five vessels, each honoring a migratory fish species, travel north in formation—moving in dialogue with shore-based gatherings and processions. Ship-to-shore radio chatter, nautical acoustics, an unfolding narrative, and distributed immersive performance interweave across distances, creating a migrating sound installation creatively connecting water and land.
