Calling all souls to celebrate the Day of the Dead, Haitian style. Every year, the beginning of November brings the sacred and spectacular Vodoun celebration that is Fèt Gede, a raucous, bawdy, fiery festival that embodies many of the essential aspects of Haiti’s history and culture. Much like the Mexican Día de los Muertos, Fèt Gede is a way to pay respects to loved ones who have passed on, through the lwa, or spirits of death and fertility, such as Bawon Samedi (Papa Gede), his consort Grann Brijit, and others who guard the cemeteries and navigate the world between the living and the dead. The broadcast features two hours of mizik rasin, or roots music driven by the Vodoun rhythms and chants that honor the Gede.

Formerly the producer of "Continental Drift" on WBAI-FM and New York International on Haitian community station Radio Soleil in NYC. The show is broadcast live from Catskill, NY.
