"Local Waves in Conversation" is a short monthly segment that airs before the twice-weekly show "Local Waves." Each month Mike Amari of Chosen Family Presents sits down for a short discussion with local musicians, record labels, recording engineers, venue owners, and more to dig deeper into the undercurrent of activity.
"Local Waves" is a twice-weekly show focused on new and local music from the Hudson Valley and surrounding areas. Curated by Mike Amari of Chosen Family Presents, this ever evolving database of music serves as a snapshot of the sounds, ideas, and creativity currently happening in our area.
Mike Amari was the talent buyer at beloved music venue BSP Kingston (2011-2019), co-director of music for O+ Festival in Kingston (2015-2019), and most recently programming director at Opus 40 in Saugerties NY (2022-2024). In 2020, he launched Chosen Family Presents, bringing highly curated concerts and events to various venues in the area. From 2022-2024, he co-created the free, monthly Chosen Family Zine which featured a showpaper, local art, and writing.
