Today we offer a program featuring one of the great Rudra Vina (Rudra Bin) instrumentalists, Asad Ali Khan. The Rudra Bin is traditionally used in instrumental performances of music in the ancient Dhrupad style of singing. We also hear a short piece by Ustad Zakir Hussain (tabla) and Ustad Sultan Khan (sarangi). Music from around the world is featured. Bringing the audience into the realm of other cultures through music, hopefully expanding empathy for the “other,” and recognizing that “other” in ourselves.
