Mostly Singles: Genies on the Other Side of the Vinyl
90.7-FM in NY's Upper Hudson Valley and wgxc.org/listen everywhere
http://www.wgxc.org/
Hosted by Michael Wilde.
More scintillating spirits, flipsides (mostly) of the Genies show: 1930s Leadbelly, Cajun hot stuff, Joe Venuti and Eddie Lang, rare Jubalaires, Mississippi John, exotic New Zealand, more crisp bright British shellac. Dazzling djinns that entrance and transport. Lots of 78s on this one; if you liked the June show, this July will be gorgeous.
Claverack resident Michael Wilde presents "Mostly Singles," selections from an extensive collection of 45 rpm vinyl — music from the 1950s, '60s, '70s and early '80s, mixed with some 78 rpm selections from American popular song and field recordings from the Library of Congress and folklore archives. Broadcast live from the Hudson studio.
