On Monday May 9 at the M.C. Smith Intermediate School auditorium in Hudson, the Hudson Opera House presented a performance by Black Violin attended by over 200 people of all ages. Combining an array of musical styles and influences, this group of 2 classically trained violinists, Kev Marcus and Will b, and TK, their DJ, is pushing boundaries to create an entirely new sound. They have synergized classical and hip hop music and they utilize their new sound to reach youth around the world, promoting individuality & teaching kids to be creative. In 2005 the group was awarded the prestigious title of "Apollo Legends". Kev Marcus and Will b, both graduates of Dillard Performing Arts High School, went on to earn full scholarships to college. Black Violin has performed and toured with Alicia Keys, P Diddy, Akon, Kanye West, Fifty Cent, Tom Petty, and Linkin Park, to name a few. Find out more about them at www.blackviolin.net.
