Neonicotinoids are a type of pesticide with ubiquitous use and far-reaching impacts on our ecosystem. Because they are systemic, they can't be simply washed off or peeled away. Furthermore, very low amounts are biologically active. This particular class of pesticide has been identified as being particularly dangerous to bees and other pollinators. Join Food Sleuth Radio host and Registered Dietitian, Melinda Hemmelgarn, for her interview with Aimee Code, Pesticide Program Director at the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation. She'll discuss the widespread use and unintended consequences of neonicotinoid pesticides on our precious pollinators. She'll leave us with a greater understanding and appreciation for insects, and their critical role in our enjoyment of nutritious, biodiverse diets. You may never call bugs "pests" again! Produced by Dan Hemmelgarn.
