Saugerties-based actress, writer, producer and musician Lora Lee Ecobelli talks with host Ann Forbes Cooper about the new movie "Chickadee" that she's co-written with her brother, and which is based on the diary of her grandmother. The movie stars Ellen Burstyn, Julie Kavner and Chris Cooper and tells the story of a landmark trial back in 1923, in which the 13-year-old Laurina brings her abusive stepfather to justice. It is currently filming in the Hudson Valley. Ecobelli also discusses the accompanying memoir/cookbook, "Laurina's Kitchen," which comes out in July, and is based on the recipes of the family's Italian/American restaurant.
