WGXC Satellite Studio

Carnegie Room, Catskill Library | Catskill, NY

Hosted by Neva E. Wartell.

Featuring selections from The Music of Arab Americans: A Retrospective Collection (Rounder Records, 1997), researched and documented by ethnomusicologist Anne K. Rasmussen. Originally recorded on 78 rpm records by Arab American musicians, the collection is but a small sampling of the music that sustained people of Arab heritage in America during roughly the first half of the 20th century. In the second hour, Catskill-based hip-hop/spoken word artist Elijah Røyal will stop by our satellite studio to share some of his recent work and give us an update on his projects and progress. Music for the Masses invites you on an excursion of sound and rhythm where you will encounter the music of established and emerging artists, both signed and unsigned, on the international music scene. For the avid globe-hopper and armchair traveler alike. You might want to pack a map and a sandwich. Broadcast live from the Carnegie Room of the Catskill Library. Hosted by Neva E. Wartell.
