Overlooked: Relentless & Ecstatic (2)
90.7-FM in NY's Upper Hudson Valley and wgxc.org/listen everywhere
http://www.wgxc.org/
Hosted by Rob Saffer.
This late-summer live broadcast from Overlook Mountain will be the second in a periodic series that showcases deliriously over-the-top music that’s ecstatic, sometimes relentlessly so. Through pieces short and long, improvised and composed, the program will explore musical ecstasy from a variety of perspectives: rock, jazz, maximalism, Krautrock, world music, just intonation and more. “Overlooked” host Rob Saffer will kick off the show with a tune featuring Lester Young, who would have turned 115 on the day of this broadcast. The program will culminate with a just-intonated jam by La Monte Young and the Forever Bad Blues Band.
This show is dedicated to Rob’s sister Cathy who died 364 days ago on her 60th birthday, August 28, 2023. Her memory is a blessing.
