WGXC Community Radio will present "Democracy Now!" host Amy Goodman on Thu. Nov. 4 at the Community Theatre of Catskill. Award-winning journalist Amy Goodman, host of the daily, grassroots, global, radio/TV news hour Democracy Now!, is on a national speaking tour to mark DN!'s 14th anniversary and launch her new book Breaking The Sound Barrier. She will give a public talk and book signing at the historic theater at 373 Main St. from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. as a fundraiser for WGXC: Hands-On Radio. Goodman will speak about her experiences as an investigative journalist in a talk titled Breaking the Sound Barrier: Promoting Social Justice Through Independent Media. WGXC Founding Members can get tickets to the talk and signing for $20. Tickets are $25 (click below) for the general public. "Democracy Now!" will air live Monday through Friday on WGXC 90.7-FM at 8 a.m. when WGXC gets on the air.

$99 Sponsor tickets are also available for 5:30 p.m. pre-event reception at Bell's Cafe with Ms. Goodman, plus food and drink, reserved seats for the talk, and a copy of her new book, "Breaking the Sound Barrier." Bell's Cafe in Catskill is a few doors down from the Community Theatre, and was just named the first certified green restaurant in the area. Thursday nights, Bell's Cafe hosts "Frugal Thursdays," and is located at 387 Main St., Catskill. Buy Sponsor tickets below with the second button below.

Proceeds from the evening go to getting community radio station WGXC on the air with 3300 watts on 90.7-FM in Greene and Columbia counties. WGXC will air "Democracy Now!" live at 8 a.m. Monday through Friday.
