"Standing Up Oceti Sakowin Camp": On Dec. 4, 2016, the Army Corps of Engineers denied a permit to Dakota Access Pipeline to dig under the Missouri River near Cannon Ball, N.D. where thousands of Lakota water protectors and allies are camped. At the end of the show, we speak with an Iowa water protector who witnessed that announcement after seeing the last piece of the Iowa leg of the pipeline being laid under the Des Moines River. In the first two-thirds we hear the voices of two Lakota elders who have been with the Lakota resistance camps since the beginning. They describe both their frustration with the government and their pride in returning to more traditional ways of life at the camp. The Dakota Access pipeline is an apotheosis of the prophesy of the Black Snake, which many generations have told of. Produced by Sprouts.
