Caroline Partamian and Ethan Primason visit the Wave Farm airwaves for this broadcast. The first half of the program is dedicated to discussing the Sonic Transmission Archive. The STA is a mobile and place-based audio project aimed to convey a collective human voice while simultaneously investigating the historic human impulse to transmit into the unknown. The project will launch a digital archiving and transmission platform which will collect, randomize, and transmit, in perpetuity, sonic contributions that answer the overarching prompt: What would you choose to leave as your legacy? Here's more information on how people can contribute their very own sounds to the archive.
The second half of the program focuses on the first two cassette releases of Weird Babes, a zine that focuses on works-in-progress and works-in-process. Weird Babes will be set up at the WGXC Record Fair on September 16th.
This show is similar to the weekday "WGXC Afternoon Show," but focused on transmission art. Saturday afternoons on WGXC feature Wave Farm Artists-in-Residence, and special guests, who are interviewed on-air, present past and future projects, as well as perform live.
