Trance-Formational Listening: Black History Month - Miles Davis Re-Imagined
90.7-FM in NY's Upper Hudson Valley and wgxc.org/listen everywhere
http://www.wgxc.org/
Hosted by Dennis Darrah.
In the 1970's Miles Davis went electric, not only adding guitars and electric keyboards to his band but also playing his trumpet through guitar effects pedals such as the wah-wah. Miles at that time also started incorporating musicians from other cultural backgrounds into his band: Airto from Brazil and Badal Roy and Khalil Balakrishna from India. His music from that period, 1970-1975, has stood the test of time and many other musicians since have picked up on it such as the two bands we feature today.
