Before the 1970s, a few radio stations on the Mexican side of the U.S. border blasted 250,000 watts, five times more powerful then the most-heard stations in the U.S. They played early country-and-western, R'n'B, and rock 'n' roll, and featured personalities such as Wolfman Jack. This show features air clips of a few border blasters, and songs by The Blasters ("Border Radio"), Wall of Voodoo ("Mexican Radio"), The Doors ("The Wasp [Texas Radio and the Big Beat]"), ZZ Top ("Heard it on the X"), The Guess Who ("Clap for the Wolfman"), Ray Stevens ("The Moonlight Special"), and others.
