Carlos Vidale joined via Ecuador for a special extended discussion on indigeneity as a worldview and a revolutionary current for our times. As potential and actually existing threats to life on Earth accelerate, 86 percent of the world’s remaining pristine ecosystems are inhabited and cared for by indigenous communities. The question asked was, how can the worlds of first nations galvanize a planetary movement towards an ecosocialist horizon? Vidale, a specialist on Indigenous human rights law and environmental movements. He has lobbied on behalf of several Ecuador-based indigenous nations around the issues of oil extraction and rainforest destruction in the Amazon region. Produced by Ben Barston.
