After the local news at noon, “Overlooked” is a show focusing on overlooked and under-heard jazz, improvisational, and other fringe music, from early roots to contemporary experiments, a mix of familiar to rare, classic to weird. In this broadcast, music by artists host Rob Saffer would have seen at the 2020 Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Tenn., had the event not been canceled due to the coronavirus emergency. Rather than moping or whining, we will revel in recordings by Terry Riley, John Hollenbeck, Meredith Monk, Steve Coleman, Caroline Shaw, Ben LaMar Gay, Annette Peacock, The Necks, Shabaka and The Ancestors, Dan Weiss, Jaimie Branch, Jeff Parker, Nadah el Shazly, Josh Abrams, Maurice Louca, 75 Dollar Bill, and others.
