WGXC-90.7 FM
Auditions: Neil Smith - "Freedom Radio"
90.7-FM in NY's Upper Hudson Valley and wgxc.org/listen everywhere
http://www.wgxc.org/
Hosted by various prospective WGXC volunteer programmers.
"Freedom Radio" with Neil Smith exposes the late 50s through to the early 70s as a Golden Age in America’s development and dives into the movements of that time including the labor movement and the Civil Rights Movement. The show looks at the undercurrent of Pop history as a driving force during that time and brings the prophetic voices of Dr. King, President John Kennedy, Malcolm X, Robert Kennedy, and Jacqueline Kennedy. In short, the show brings together the people, the music, and the driving force of a longing to express the question of universal suffrage in a short period. A period defined, all too sadly, by some of the best minds this nation ever possessed —shot down in the heyday of Hope. My attempt will be to express how the assassinations that occurred in that brief period of time impacted the vision of global Peace and Cooperation.
"Auditions" features prospective WGXC volunteer programmers trying out their proposed radio programs on air for listener feedback.
