Hosted by Tom Roe.

Mark Harris is an artist, writer, and curator. His approaches to making artwork are linked by an interest in the imagery of intoxication as a form of utopian representation and as alternative agency to militant strategies of the historical avant-garde. For this special live broadcast at the Wave Farm Study Center in Acra, NY; Harris will present a seminar of bad music on vinyl relating to two themes: Water, in celebration of Wave Farm; and War, in recognition of America’s ambivalent embroilment in international conflict. Bad music may include anything inept, incomprehensible, idiotic, misbehaving, malevolent, misunderstood, marginal, or overlooked, the failing musical id of its high-achieving counterpart. There will be a wide range of vinyl records played, including private press recordings, song-poems, Italian anarchist songs, Native American music, calypso, punk rock, music by Amazon Indians, and recordings by celebrities like Uri Geller and Leonard Nimoy. This project is supported, in part, by the Ohio Arts Council.
