In this broadcast, George Spencer speaks with Jeremy Bullis of Window on Hudson, Susan Eley of Susan Eley Fine Arts, and Ellen D'Arcy Simpson of D'Arcy Art Works, the people behind the Second Saturday Hudson Gallery Crawl. Also Christine Grossman from the Hudson Elks club previews Flag Day June 12 on Warren St. And tune in new songs from Jaded Azurites, featuring Columbia County-based poet Karen Schoemer and legendary bassist Mike Watt. And finally, the latest Hudson Valley Word of Mouth segment, Julia Joern heads to Columbia County to visit Art Austerlitz, housed in an old church at Old Austerlitz, home to the Austerlitz Historical Society. Located on a 20-acre site along both sides of State Route 22, the historic houses and structures of Old Austerlitz offer visitors a sense of what life was like in the mid 1800s. Originally built in 1853, the church is currently being used for a series of contemporary art exhibitions. This June, the Newburgh-based artist Liz Nielson has a solo show of ‘cameraless’ photography — known as photograms — installed on the church’s vestibule and main interior space, as well as the pews. Nielson has exhibited around the world in cities like New York, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Chicago, and Berlin, but her work is often on view here in the Hudson Valley. She also shares tips about recommended art projects in our region, including Elijah Wheat Showroom and Strongroom in Newburgh, Mother Gallery and Fridman Gallery in Beacon, and the Wassaic Project.

The WGXC Morning Show is a radio magazine show featuring local news, interviews with community leaders and personalities, reports on cultural issues, a rundown of public meetings and local and regional events, with weather updates, and more about and for the community, made mostly through volunteers in the community through WGXC. The Catskill Makers Syndicate produce the "Better Weather" for the show. Rob Gelles produces the Columbia County history segment "Rob Around The County" and "This Month in History" for the show. Julia Joern produced the "Hudson Valley Word of Mouth" interview segment each week. The "WGXC Congressional Report" also airs here. Some reports come from our partner station, WOOC-LP in Troy, out of The Sanctuary for Independent Media. Tom Roe also cuts up local and national news with songs and sounds for the show. At 9 a.m. "The WGXC Daily," with local headlines, weather, and previews of community events, airs. At 10 a.m., national headlines from Public News Service are on WGXC. Sometimes national, state, or local press conferences, meetings, or events are broadcast live here.
