On Wednesday October 24 at 1 pm, guitarist Susan Surftone will visit the Hudson studios to talk about her latest album, Shore. A Hudson native, SurfTone has long been one of the only women lead guitar players fronting an instrumental surf band. She began playing guitar when she was nine years old and once her guitar teacher turned her onto The Ventures "there was no turning back." She has toured extensively throughout Europe and has a particularly enthusiastic following in both Italy and Germany (where OmOm Music and Gee-Dee Music have respectively released her music). SurfTone and her bands have toured with acts like Lords of Altamont (USA), The Balboas (USA), The Aqua Velvets (USA), The Surf Coasters (Japan), The Looney Tunes (Germany), Huskey and the Sandmen (Finland), Pollo Del Mar (USA), The Cadillac Hitmen (USA) and many others. She founded the band Susan and the SurfTones in 1993. In 2000 she moved to Portland, Oregon. Shore is her first solo album.
