The Bangla Show aired on WGXC from April 2011 to September 2015.
A community supported radio program that reflects the eclectic musical traditions of the Bengal Region of South Asia. The small community of Bengali diaspora in Hudson, NY finds its voice echoed in the music that is played on this show at 4:30pm every Sunday. Tune in and listen to the music, the banglish conversations, and the mess-ups that occur on air every Sunday.
The Bangla Show is Hosted by Hosneara Kader with the support of co-host Shariful Alam and co-host/technician Mohammed Rony.
Hosneara Kader is a long time resident of Hudson, NY. She works at Columbia Opportunities, Inc. with the Hudson Family Literacy Program and is involved in various community organizations. She is a founding member of the WGXC radio station and an active council member.
Shariful Alam is also a long time resident of Hudson. He resides in Hudson with his family. He is an artist, singer, poet, writer, and a foremost expert in Bangladeshi Culture and Art. He has had a book published about seven years ago and has a new one coming out soon. The books are collections of poems about his travels, his life and experiences.
Mohammed Rony is a Biological Science major at Hudson Valley Community College. In his free time, he is involved in community in various ways. He dabbles in everything from computers and technology, art, writing, sports, etc.
Shariful Alam is a Co-host of the The Bangla Show.
Hosneara Kader is a founding member of the WGXC Radio Council and host of The Bangla Show.
