In the latest Hudson Valley Word of Mouth segment, Julia Joern travels to the southwestern part of Greene County to visit with Alex Rodriguez, founder of Lexington Arts + Science. Located in the heart of the small town of Lexington (population hovers around 800), and situated right on the Schoharie Creek, Lexington Arts + Science is a physical place, a growing community, and a state of mind. Spanning over 30 acres and home to a collection of a number of large scale buildings that are now slowly being preserved and organically 're-activated' — including a barn-turned-theater, a historic riverfront historic hotel, an old farmhouse, and other structures — this creative revitalization project is also inspired by the 'Strong Towns' movement. And the COP26 world climate summit in Glasgow concluded last weekend with no agreement to cut greenhouse gas emissions at the level scientists pleaded for when they declared a Code Red for the planet. The Catskill Makers Syndicate produce the "Better Weather" for the show. Rob Gelles produces the Columbia County history segment "Rob Around The County" and "This Month in History" for the show. Julia Joern produces the "Hudson Valley Word of Mouth" interview segment every Thursday. And Jack Sencabaugh contributes the "Backtracks in Time" segment about local history. Some reports come from our partner station, WOOC-LP in Troy, out of The Sanctuary for Independent Media. Tom Roe also cuts up local and national news with songs and sounds for the show.
