Race Talks: Gratitude and Grit: Reflecting on Heritage & the Resiliency of our Politics-US! with Host Kimberly Y. Erwin, Ellen Chamberlain, and Garrett Roche. OneUniversal Media/InterCultural Connect, LLC (Nov 19, 2024)

Hosted by Kimberly Erwin.

Race Talks® brings an uplifting spirit of Thanksgiving to the airwaves this November, with Host Kimberly Y. Erwin–author of “A Children’s Book: Ending Racism!,” serial entrepreneur, and seasoned radio programmer–leading the discussion paying homage to indigenous people during Native American Heritage Month, with a special look at women “firsts” in a variety of cultural nooks.

Kimberly is joined by guest TALKer Ellen Chamberlain, an accomplished storyteller and cultural voice, whose work as a food and dining reporter for Commercial Appeal/USA Today in Memphis connects her deeply to the stories and traditions of diverse communities. A native of metro Detroit, Ellen brings a rich background in Black culture, lifestyle, and music, including a TEDx talk dedicated to hip hop, exploring its misogyny and the identity of the female rap artist. With years of writing for broadcast, print, and digital media, Ellen’s unique ability to connect lifestyle with cultural depth makes her an essential voice in this timely discussion.

Also included are reflections on the recent presidential election, touching on the historic candidacy of Vice President Kamala Harris and her historic place in America as a Black woman of African (by way of Jamaica) and South Asian (India) descent. Though the outcome may not have been what many had hoped for, the conversation will center on how to find gratitude in moments of challenge and how resilience can guide us forward.

Listeners are encouraged to call in during the Roundtable portion and share, along with our Special guests, what they’re most thankful for and any reflections of how our past may guide us to future progress. Garrett Roche, host of The Roche Solid Truth podcast, will also be on hand to bring his signature insights and TRUTH to the Table. Don’t miss this powerful conversation - "Forever, FORWARD!" #RaceTalksTheShow
