due to things being meant to be as they come to be and some technical difficulties please tune in to a very special hour long field recording of @mississippirecords store front as eric (the founder) plays some of their super coolest special releases. 

so many of mississippi records releases come from field recordings, home recordings, or a lone surviving tape, so the mode of recording for this show fit perfectly. i’ve listened to this label since they started releasing emahoy tsege mariam gebru’s music. i like their dedication to continuity of beautiful

music, and to their insistence on analogue hand to hand processes. and the sustained relationships between the label and the people and communities whose music they share. the set ended as the store opened, bells, dog barks, excited ppl and all. it’s so fun.

"SHE ARRIVED AMID HORSES is a radio special hosted by balona (bell-on-uh). expect the sounds of crickets, manifestos, current song obsessions, overheard poems, dollar bin tapes, and the like, with a lingering emphasis on underground musicians that defy genre and expectation.

*the title of this show comes from a repeated line in Luci Tapahanso's poem Blue Horses Rush In. i read it for the first time one night last summer falling asleep beside the river where the poem happens to take place. that night i dreamt of horses and other things i am not gonna tell you but maybe you'll hear some bits and pieces mumbling through each broadcast. there's something about radio that's hidden in the sound of water meeting stones.
