Race Talks: WE Control OUR History: riSE Against Erasure! with Kimberly Erwin, Ericka Bates & Mike Green. OneUniversal Media/InterCultura Connect, LLC (Jun 17, 2025)

Hosted by Kimberly Erwin.

In this, "WE Control OUR History: riSE Against Erasure!" episode of Race Talks®, join host Kimberly Erwin, intercultural strategist, journalist, and founder of InterCultural Connect and OneUniversal Media who brings a global lens to local conversation, as she sets out to task you to remember how cultures in America (indeed, the world!) are forever intertwined (re: Bizarro world where we say 'YES' to ICE & 'NO' to DEI). With an opening musical tribute to Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month (left off of last month's show due to timing), Kimberly and two powerhouse guests provide a timely and most dynamic discussion on cultural erasure, contested histories, and the power of digital tools to reclaim space and truth.

Specifically, June(teenth)’s lineup catapults into the limelight the power of “new” media technology and its unveiling of growing tension between historical truth and revisionism—from the President’s controversial push to restore statues of Confederate leaders and Christopher Columbus, to deeper conversations around heritage and national memory (can you say "Dr. Carla Hayden?" Trump's "very best" administration are unable to). The show also features a special Happy Father’s Day “Jeopardy-style” roundtable game that flips the script in a fun-filled, informative way.

June’s Guest TALKers are:

Mike Green, a nationally respected cultural economist and co-founder of Common Ground Conversations on Race in America, brings decades of experience helping institutions understand how race and economics shape public life. He’ll dig into the legacy of “The Negro Revolution” and examine the current push to reinstate Confederate and Columbus statues—asking what it really means to honor history.

Ericka Bates, a Digital Transformation Strategist and founder of Talk Virtual, joins to share how virtual platforms can be used to build inclusive, engaging communities. She helps SaaS brands and entrepreneurs create dynamic online events that spark connection and drive results. Here, Ericka offers insight into how tech-driven spaces that can foster inclusion and innovation, uplifting voices that are often pushed to the margins.

Also, on hand will be Garrett Roche of The Roche Solid Truth Podcast, contributing with his signature no-nonsense honesty and perpetual positivity, who adds to the Small Business Expo conversation where he met with people of almost every American-represented ethnic identity. Stay to the end to enjoy a special Father’s Day “Jeopardy-style” game, and intriguing conversations you won’t hear anywhere else.
