In the latest Hudson Valley Word of Mouth segment from Julia Joern, a visit with Katie Hartsough, owner of the recently-opened Kaaterskill Market. After years in the fashion industry, Katie became increasingly disillusioned with certain aspects of consumerism and a system that pumped out products with short life spans. So she turned her eye toward creating a business focusing on sustainability and fair trade practices. Located on Main Street in Catskill, her shop offers sustainable and utilitarian home goods, many made by local craftspeople using natural and organic materials from the area. Also on view in her space are artworks by her husband, Tristan Fitch. When she's not tending to her store, she escapes to RamsHorn-Livingston Audubon Sanctuary, right here in Catskill.
