Music from around the world is featured. Bringing the audience into the realm of other cultures through music, hopefully expanding empathy for the “other,” and recognizing that “other” in ourselves. From WGDR, Goddard College Plainfield, VT. wgdr.org/. We open with a series of ambient recordings done in the streets of Bamako, Mali. From there we move on to recordings from Bamako, Mali and Agadez, Niger where we sample six tracks from a two different albums featuring different musicians including Mdou Moctar. We then hear two tracks off one of his early albums, "Sousoume Tamachek". Finally we end with a song by Les Filles des Illighadad (The Daughters of Illighadad).
