Join Lincoln Mayorga and Sheri Bauer-Mayorga for two hours each Monday for WGXC's Monday Musical Matinee: a program which draws on 1,000 years of music categorized as "classical" and "jazz." He's a true romantic, she's a little bit avant garde, and they both go for baroque.
Lincoln Mayorga has been recognized as a champion of American classical music. He was the staff pianist for Walt Disney Studios, and contributed to the soundtracks of such motion pictures as "Chinatown," "Pete's Dragon," "The Competition," "The Rose," and "Ragtime," to name a few. He has made recordings with such artists as Johnny Mathis, Barbra Streisand, Marni Nixon, Vikki Carr, Mel Torme, Phil Ochs, Andy Williams, Frank Zappa, and Quincy Jones, and he has performed in more than two-hundred cities across the United States, Canada, Europe and Russia. Lincoln Mayorga is also the producer of the recently-released “A Suitcase Full of Chocolate," a documentary about Romanian pianist Sofia Cosma, 30-years in the making. He is a Columbia County resident.
Vocalist, pianist, and educator, Sheri Bauer-Mayorga, is founding director of the Good Globe Singing School which provides singing classes and community sings for pre-teens, teens, and adults. The school is currently housed at the Spencertown Academy, but also runs sings and classes hosted by PS21 in Chatham, NY. Sheri studied piano and accompanying at the Hartt School of Music and graduated from the Brooklyn Conservatory at Brooklyn College.. She joined the village music scene originally as a pianist, performing and recording the works of modern American composers. Her university piano mentors were John Cobb and Doris Hays. To further a passion for American song, Sheri later took advanced studies in voice, folk music research, and Kodaly music at the Hartt School of Music, the Westminster Choir College, Shenandoah University, and with composer and arranger, Alice Parker. Sheri has studied both jazz and classical voice with Anne Turner, Jay Clayton, and Jeannette LoVetri via "Somatic Voicework™ The LoVetri Method" workshops. She has accompanied and sung with Albany’s premiere choral group, Albany Pro Musica. As vocalist, Sheri recorded two eclectic vocal projects for TownHall Records, "On The Wrong Side of the Railroad Tracks,” and “American Snapshots: 200 Years of American Song,” with her husband, pianist, Lincoln Mayorga. She's jazz vocalist with The Berkshire Bop Society and on alternating Mondays you can hear her on "The Monday Musical Matinee" on WGXC 90.7FM. Sheri spent the first 18 years of her life on her families' apiary in Greene County, "Twin Spruce Apiaries" and currently resides in Columbia County with husband, Lincoln Mayorga, and two sons, Juan Carlos and Nicolas.
