WGXC airs a special on church and pipe organs. Talking Head David Byrne sets the scene, with a recent essay in McSweeney's about how sound was created for various settings, including churches. We'll excerpt the part about churches and organs here. Plus, the show will sample all sorts of church organs, and hear Brian Dewan's radio play "King of Instruments." Organ music of all types will be featured from Quintron, Jimmy Smith, Walter Wanderly, Walter/Wendy Carlos, the BBC Radiophonic studio, and others.
