This week we present "Jazzisimo, the Latinx Jazz Edition of Nuestra Musica". Even though deeply rooted in the New Orleans and East Coast Jazz universe. The Latinx Jazz takes the best of those two scenes and incorporates the languages, traditions and instruments of Latin America, Spain and Portugal. Nestor Torres, Chucho Valdez, Gal Costa, Trio da Paz, Arturo Sandoval, ELA, and Machito & his Afro Cubans are some of the artist feature this week.
“Nuestra Música,” “Our Music,” presents the rhythms and folklore of Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and Cape Verde. From Tango to Flamenco and all Latinx music in between. The show explores the native instruments, languages, and traditions played in 22 countries and one territory. Other than Spanish and Portuguese, "Nuestra Música" presents songs in Quechua, Mapuche, Guaraní, Nahuatl, Gallego, Spanish Basque, and Catalán. Among many styles we present: Tango, Chacarera, Baguala, Zamba with a Z and Samba with an S, Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Llanero, Vallenato, Merengue, Parrandera, Son, Bolero, Ranchera, Corrido, Marimba, Fado, Flamenco, Sevillanas, Jota, Blues, Jazz, Danzon, Mambo, and many more. The countries presented are Argentina // Bolivia // Brazil // Cape Verde // Chile // Colombia // Costa Rica // Cuba // Dominican Republic // Ecuador // El Salvador // Guatemala // Honduras // Mexico // Nicaragua // Panama // Paraguay // Peru // Portugal // Puerto Rico // Spain // Uruguay // Venezuela.
