noise&light present "Sum Twenties." "Sum Twenties" is an aural film noir in three acts that uses pure sound design as its primary element.
Act I: Velocity Per Second of a 5 inch Pipe
Act II: I Never Had It So Good
Act III: Time Starts Now
The third act, Time Starts Now, completes the mystery, but the events and outcomes of the story are determined by how the listener interprets the sounds.
Bio: Liz Bustamante is a Master Control Engineer for Chicago public radio station WBEZ. Her interdisciplinary background includes music, film and video, field recording, photography, storytelling, and web design. She has designed audio packages for film productions, produced documentary segments for radio, engineered live sound, managed recording studios, and conducted interviews for “Tape Op Magazine.” She is a multi-instrumentalist (primarily a drummer) who has performed or recorded with nearly 20 groups. Her other artistic work includes: directing and editing an award-winning music video, composing the music for independent films, and volunteering as an engineer and band instructor for Girls Rock! Chicago. Her Arduino-based interactive installation work “The Idea of Space” premiered at the Megapolis audio art festival in April 2013 at the New School in New York. Upcoming work includes capturing a series of 1-second field recordings throughout the year that will eventually be compiled into a 7-minute Musique Concréte piece, and her solo album of original music and field recordings is scheduled for release in the summer of 2014.
