Tradition had it that a group of ordinary citizens in the small Austrian village of Oberufer would come together each year at Christmas time to perform this play for the town. It is a nativity play, told largely from the point of view of three bumbling shepherds who are visited by the angel Gabriel and who make their way to Bethlehem in search of the newborn Jesus child. This year, the Camphill Hudson Community has come together to put on this play for their friends and neighbors in the city of Hudson.
