Applicants should possess enthusiasm for transmission arts, and be interested in an immersive experience working directly with artists and the inner workings of a non-profit arts organization. This position works closely with Wave Farm's Executive Director.

Stipend: $2,500
Time commitment: July - August 2018, 24 hours/week
Please note: housing is not provided, and independent transportation is necessary

Founded in Brooklyn, NY, in 1997, as a microradio artists’ collective creating works for radio transmission, in 2002, Wave Farm (formerly known as free103point9) became a nonprofit arts organization focused on cultivating Transmission Arts, or artist's experiments with the airwaves. Transmission art is generally a participatory live-art or time-based art, and often is made manifest as radio art, video art, installation, and performance.

Based in New York’s Upper Hudson Valley (Acra, NY) since 2004, Wave Farm is a non-profit arts organization driven by experimentation with broadcast media and the airwaves. Our programs—Transmission Arts, WGXC 90.7-FM, and Media Arts Grants—provide access to transmission technologies and support artists and organizations that engage with media as an art form.

The Wave Farm Artist Residency Program supports visiting artists from around the globe. (Read more about Wave Farm's 2018 Artists-in-residence here.) Site-specific and interactive installations by artists activate and sonify the 29-acre Wave Farm property. The Transmission Arts Archive presents a living genealogy of artists’ experiments with broadcast media and the airwaves. Standing Wave Radio is a continuous online radio feed and site-specific broadcast that airs on WGXC 90.7-FM late nights and Saturdays.

Wave Farm's Media Arts Grants program includes fiscal sponsorship as well as the New York State Council on the Arts in Partnership with Wave Farm: Media Arts Assistance Fund (MAAF) and New York Media Arts Map, which support electronic media and film organizations, as well as individual artists, in all regions of New York State through a regrant from the NYSCA Electronic Media and Film program. More information about these programs is available here.

To Apply: Applicants for Wave Farm's Summer Fellowship opportunity should submit a letter of interest and resume for consideration to info@wavefarm.org. Competitive applicants will be invited for a site visit and interview to discuss the Fellowship in greater detail. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
