BOB WOOD is s trained as an all around classical, jazz pianist, organist, trombonist, and double bassist. He also played and taught guitar and folk singing. A Dixieland band leader in the Army during WWII, Wood’s taken his music making around the U.S. with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, and around the world following a career teaching beginners in NYC public schools to begin with the greatest classics. His three-year interactive radio program, Music By Ear on WBAI, activated many otherwise passive hearers to become listeners and players.
WGXC-FM is a community-run media project, re-envisioning radio as an innovative platform for local participation. Our inclusive programming connects diverse voices, and distributes information across the public spectrum in New York's Greene and Columbia Counties. WGXC is a project of non-profit arts organization free103point9. Visit www.wgxc.org for more information.
This event is made possible, in part, by the Greene County Legislature through the County Initiative Program, administered in Greene County by the Greene County Council on the Arts. Special thanks to Ellsworth Slater for donating the use of a space for this project.
