WGXC Community Programming Coordinator
Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM is a creative community radio station based in New York’s Greene and Columbia counties. Hands-on access and participation activate WGXC as a public platform for information, experimentation, and engagement. WGXC is a program division of the non-profit arts organization Wave Farm and operates out of two full-time studios (Hudson and Acra, NY), as well as a satellite studio in Catskill, NY. Community programming airs on WGXC Sunday through Friday 6 a.m. to midnight. http://wavefarm.org/wgxc

This newly formed full-time position is a special opportunity to join a unique organization and make a significant impact on the future of creative, community, hands-on media in the Upper Hudson Valley. The WGXC Community Programming Coordinator reports to the WGXC Station Manager and is responsible for coordinating and facilitating the WGXC community programming schedule on Wave Farm’s WGXC 90.7-FM.
Responsibilities include:
• Coordinate community programming
• Collaborate with Catskill Programming Coordinator on Tuesday programming.
• Participate in collaborative decision-making in conjunction with Station Manager and organizational staff, with advice from Programming Committee
• Communication with all community programmers
• Programmer training
• Produce and manage underwriting announcements, PSAs, and promos
• Volunteer recruitment, orientation, and communication
• Manage quarterly music reporting
• Broadcast promotion and archiving on website and social media
• Production of daily feature segment
• Manage WGXC community calendar
Qualifications:
• Passion for Wave Farm’s mission and creative community radio
• Exceptional communication skills and the ability to effectively interface with a broad spectrum of the public
• Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive. Self-motivated and with strong attention to detail
• A strong belief in, and dedication to public service and the importance of engaging community as an essential component of that service.
• Enthusiasm for working from a variety of locations. Comfort in Mac environments.
• Enthusiasm and interest in learning new technologies
• Comfort with time-based deadlines, and ability to manage stress
• Bachelor's degree in media studies, studio arts, art history, communications, or related field is preferred
Salary: Initial compensation is modest, NYS compliant, and available upon request. Increased salaries are a priority, and anticipated in conjunction with station growth.
