Culinary Historian Peter G. Rose speaks on the History of Chocolate in the Hudson Valley. In this talk sponsored by the Jacob Leisler Institute for Early New York History and the Hudson library, Rose discusses the early trade by the Valley’s Dutch settlers in the 17th century and the subsequent manufacturing developments of chocolate through the 18th century into the late 19th century. There will be free samples of locally made chocolate from Verdigris Tea & Chocolate Bar and other local businesses at the event.
